Today's Forgotten Oldie...

"Winchester Cathedral" went all the way to #1 in the USA in December of 1966.  Recorded and released by the New Vaudeville band, it was meant to sound like the music from the British Music Hall era.  A novelty song actually recorded by session musicians, it's the kind of song that intrigues me.  Who bought it?  I never saw the album or 45 in any of my friend's collections, most of my peers hated the song.  To this day, I've seen very few copies in collections. My theory is that occasionally there are songs that are bought by a much older crowd... but it's just a theory.
