Janis Ian

Starting her career at the age of 16 with "Society's Child", Janis Ian was highly controversial, even banned on some radio stations because of the inter-racial nature of her song.  But the record reached #14 on the Hot 100 and started a long, successful career.  Although Janis Ian only reached the charts a few times, over the years she released many albums, and even started a successful career as a Science Fiction writer. Today her music is mostly forgotten.
