British Class Consciousness

So when you read the title above, did you immediately think of the Kinks "A Well Respected Man"?  The song was written by singer Ray Davies and was a hard jab at the upper crust in Britain.  Record company execs didn't want to release the song (didn't sound enough like earlier Kinks songs), but they did and it reached #13 in the USA in October 1965.  One of four Kinks' songs on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's list of the 500 songs that shaped rock and roll, today it's mostly forgotten.
