Fess Parker died Thursday. Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone... he was both, to me and millions of people. Like so many other kids back then I had a coonskin cap and a toy flintlock rifle, and couldn't wait for the next episode of Davy Crockett on Disney.
And right after I heard about Fess, I got a call that my Grandma died. She would have been 102 on Friday... today. She raised ten kids and outlived five of them. And what a wonderful woman. I guess God wanted Davy Crockett to lead Grandma home...
Rest in Peace, I'll miss you both.
