"Please Please Me" was the first Beatle single released in the U.S.A. Hitting number one in England meant little in January of 1963 though, and the song went pretty much un-noticed by the American youth and American DJ's. However, when the song was re-released in March of 1964, a month after the historic appearance of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and in the tumultuous early days of the British Invasion, all the rules had changed. The song peaked at #3 on the Hot 100 on March 13, 1964 exactly 50 years ago today. 50 years later, we rarely hear the song on the radio... largely forgotten.
