Today's Forgotten Oldie...

Today a one-hit wonder from Wadsworth Mansion.  The Rhode Island band's only charting single peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 exactly 43 years ago today on February 27, 1971. Despite a follow-up album and two more singles, the band never charted again and faded into obscurity.  Another top ten hit that we never hear on the radio.

Today's Forgotten Oldie...

Nancy Sinatra took the song "These Boots Are Made For Walking" all the way to #1 exactly 48 years ago today... yep, the song hit number one in the U.S. on February 26, 1966.  A lot of people criticised the song and the singer... Nancy for being Frank Sinatra's daughter and using her looks to sell records, and the song for being too "cutesy".  But it went to the top, people loved it, and happily Nancy proved her great vocal talent a couple years later when she recorded the theme song to the James Bond film "You Only Live Twice".  Ya gotta admit she was good looking too!

Today's Forgotten Oldie...

Hi De Ho was a top twenty hit for Blood Sweat and Tears in 1970.  Taken from their third album, Blood Sweat and Tears 3, the song was actually a cover of a song recorded earlier by Carole King.  The album  went to number one but was hated by the critics, largely due to the lack of original material.  Lucretia MacEvil was the second single from the album but only reached #29 on the charts.  Still, Hi De Ho is a cool, but forgotten oldie...
