In 1968, the Beatles started Apple Records. Their first big hit on the new label, surprisingly came not from the Beatles, but a virtual unknown named Mary Hopkin whose version of "Those Were The Days" went all the way to #2 on the Hot 100 and was a hit all around the world. The song has been recorded by an amazing array of performers from Bing Crosby to Dolly Parton, but today it's just another great song that's forgotten.
