Today's forgotten oldie comes from Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, a band best known for their 1965 number two smash hit "Wooly Bully". Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs were not one-hit wonders, they placed several songs in the top 40 in the 60's, but we only hear Wooly Bully. In 1966, the band scored another number two hit with "Little Red Riding Hood". The song was number two on Billboard, but Cashbox had it at number one. It was every bit as big a hit as Wooly Bully, and yet today it's practically forgotten... and I think Little Red Riding Hood is the better song... I don't get it.
