Today a song that was a big hit for it's writer, Roy Orbison, and an even bigger hit for Linda Ronstadt. Linda's cover of "Blue Bayou" went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1977. It was also a #2 hit on Cashbox, and reached #2 on the country chart also. It became Ronstadt's signature song, but it also became a part of baseball culture... according to Dickson's Baseball Dictionary, a "Linda Ronstadt" is a fastball that "Blew By You". With Don Henley of the Eagles singing backup vocals, Blue Bayou is today's forgotten oldie.
