Today's Forgotten Oldie...
In 1966 "Talk Talk" by the Music Machine roared into the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100 on Original Sound Records. With a bonafide hit on their hands, the small record company proceeded to bungle ensuing releases by the band, keeping any chance of follow up hits to a minimum. By 1967, the band was done. Dressed all in black with a single black glove, the Music Machine was a very solid band and Talk Talk was a great record, deserving air play!

Don't get me wrong, I love fall. But I truly was not ready to be done with summer. I never got a chance to take my hot tub out on the river!!!

Today's Forgotten Oldie...
Today it's a song that ranks high among my favorites... Jo Jo Gunne is a rock band that was formed in L.A. in 1971 by
Jay Ferguson and Mark Andes after they left the band Spirit. The band had a
one-hit wonder in 1972 with "Run Run Run", breaking into the top 40
and staying there for 11 weeks.
The band was probably notable for it's members' presence
in other bands... Jay Ferguson had a solid solo career with hits like
"Thgunder Island" and "Shakedown Cruise", Andes joined
Firefall and later Heart and scored many hits with both bands, and drummer
William Smith was successful with Boston.
The original lineup re-formed in 2005 and still tours
today!

Haunted Amusement Park!!
This picture is of the Lake Shanee Amusement Park, in Princeton, West Virginia. Originally opened in 1926, it's closed permanently since 1988. The park has experienced mysterious deaths, full bodied apparitions, Native American chanting, a myriad of unexplained sounds and screams, and rides that start up on their own. Sounds like a great place to spend Halloween!

Today's Forgotten Oldie...
Today a song that was a big hit for it's writer, Roy Orbison, and an even bigger hit for Linda Ronstadt. Linda's cover of "Blue Bayou" went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1977. It was also a #2 hit on Cashbox, and reached #2 on the country chart also. It became Ronstadt's signature song, but it also became a part of baseball culture... according to Dickson's Baseball Dictionary, a "Linda Ronstadt" is a fastball that "Blew By You". With Don Henley of the Eagles singing backup vocals, Blue Bayou is today's forgotten oldie.

Today's Forgotten Oldie...
In 1969, a band with a female lead singer blew me away with their version of the Burt Bacharach song "Baby It's You". Smith, with Gayle McCormick on lead vocals, simply overpowered previous recordings of the song by the Shirelles and even the Beatles. Yes it was a one-hit-wonder, but it went Gold, stayed on the charts for four months, and reached the top 5 of the Hot 100. A great song that deserves air play, Smith and "Baby It's You."
