Funny stuff!

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on.
At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, 
"If Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." 

In response to Bill's comments, Ford issued a press release stating:
If Ford had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part): 
1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash.........twice a day.

2.. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3... Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4.... Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5..... Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads.

6...... The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light.

7....... The airbag system would ask, "Are you sure?"before deploying.

8........ Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9......... Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10.......... You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off.

PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call "customer service" in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!!!!

Today's Forgotten Oldie...

In 1966, a performer known simply as "Keith" had a top 40 hit titled "Ain't Gonna Lie". The next year he scored a top ten record "98.6".  After the two hits, he fizzled and never cracked the hot 100 again. I like both the hits, they're what I call "nice" songs and girls really seem to like them.  They're just not very memorable songs... especially "Ain't Gonna Lie". Do you remember the song?

I thought I was done with roller coasters until I saw this one... anybody know where it is?  I wanna do it!!!

Today's Forgotten Oldie...

"I'm A Man" was a Bo Diddley song, recorded several times by the British group The Yardbirds. Released as a single in 1965, climbing to #17 on the Billboard Hot 100. Considered the Yardbirds breakthrough song, I'm a Man was recorded first with Eric Clapton on lead, later with Jeff Beck on lead, and even later with Jimmy Page on lead... a very unique distinction that no other song can boast.  Steve Winwood also wrote a song with the title "I'm A Man" that was a hit for The Spencer Davis Group and later the band Chicago, but it's a totally different song.  The Bo Diddley version of "I'm A Man" has been on Tom Petty's live playlist the last couple of years. It's a truly great song, one of my all-time favorites!

Ho Ho!!! (And no it's not Christmas)

Finally!!  My wife found them at the grocery store and brought them home for me. Thank you to everyone that helped make it happen... Ho Ho's are back! (Life is Good!)

Monday giggle...

Because something should make you smile on a Monday!

Friday... and an interesting question.

Do people drink more on Friday evening or Monday evening?  A friend of mine told me that Monday has more drinkers.  Not due to bars or parties, but because so many people HATE Mondays and have some form of alcoholic relaxation as soon as they get home every Monday.  I can't find much online... anyone know if this is true?

Today's Forgotten Oldie...

Vanity Fare is a British Pop/Rock band that started in 1966 and has stayed together since, and still has two members that have been with the band since 1970.  They are far more popular in Europe than they ever were in the USA.  Their first hit, "Early in the Morning" was their biggest hit in England and reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1970, selling a million copies and going gold.  Their second hit, "Hitching A Ride" went to number 5 in the USA, and remains the song the band is known for.  But "Early in the Morning" is my favorite, a legitimate hit yet largely forgotten today.

Today's Forgotten Oldie...

Mouth & MacNeal's "How Do You Do" reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July of 1972. The duo was actually from the Netherlands where they'd dominated the charts for a year. Comprised of "Big Mouth" Willem Duyn, and a solo artist Maggie MacNeal, the duo often brought comedy into their live appearances.  They had several hits in Europe before breaking up in 1974. It's another top ten hit that's been largely forgotten today... with over two million records sold worldwide, the song deserves airplay!

Ah, the golden age of westerns on TV.  When every night we sat on the floor in fron of a black & white TV learning the lessons of good and evil from our favorite cowpokes. Heck, they were all our favorites! I still watch these shows on DVD, they were the best!
